Criteria of Eligibility
The American Clan Lockhart Society (ACLS) Scholarship(s) will be awarded each year in the amount determined at the
Assembly General Meeting (AGM) to applicant(s) ages 10 years old and over who are dedicated to continuing their education
and instruction in common events as it relates to ACLS and Scottish studies of heritage. Such education and instruction are,
but not limited to, the arts and sciences of Scottish music, dancing, language, and etc. The ACLS Scholarship will be based on
need and will enable the student to receive an education / training they could not otherwise obtain or afford."
All applicants, parent(s) or relative of applicants, must be an active voting or non-voting member of American Clan Lockhart Society (ACLS)
in good standing, or be a direct descendent of such an active member. All active members are certified by the Membership Secretary and
determined as such by March 1.
Applications must be postmarked by March 31 and mailed to: Robert Ryder, Chairperson of ACLS Scholarship Committee.
All applicants will submit to the ACLS Scholarship Committee the Application fully completed, along with the following items:
· Two letters of recommendation from accredited instructors / teachers.
· The name of the course or activity that provides a vehicle for the said interest, desire or purpose of what ACLS Scholarship will be used for.
· Application form must be signed by both the applicant and the parent / guardian of applicant if the applicant is under 18 years of age.
Members of the scholarship committee and their descendents are not eligible.
The Scholarship Committee will review all applications submitted, and will make recommendations to the ACLS Board of Directors for approval by May 1.
The recipient(s) of the Scholarship(s) will be notified by registered mail by May 21, and also announced to the general membership at the AGM
and in the following edition of the “Talisman.”
All recipients must submit a report upon their completion of their individual study to be published in the ACLS newsletter “Talisman.”
