In 1998, The US senate passed a resolution adopting April 6 as National Tartan Day. The significance of April 6th dates back to 1320 when the Declaration of Arbroath, the Scottish Declaration of Independence, was signed.
Americans of Scottish descent have played an influential role in the development of the United States. From the Declaration of Independence to the first man on the moon. Scot Americans have contributed greatly to the arts, science, exploration, politics, law and much more.
Today over 12 million North Americans claim Scottish roots, these are the people and the accomplishments that are honored on National Tartan Day, April 6th.
